Case study - week 1

Our case study this week is a 57 year old female, a new client to our clinic but has already booked in for another treatment following the success of her first. And here's why...

Background

The client had a lower face lift and upper blepharoplasty (upper eyelid surgery that removes the excess folds of skin) approx 2 years ago. She mentioned that the surgeon was on the cautious side and eager not to remove too much skin, which is understandable, but she was left wanting more.

Consultation

The client wanted to treat the eye area and hoped that we could give her a brow lift. Botox can give a brow lift, but generally in clients over the age of 40-45 years it can give them an unwanted "Spock" brow as we now know it as. The longevity of a brow lift with Botox also isn't great, so we went down another route.

In order to achieve this and meet the clients expectations, we performed a PDO Brow lift.

Treatment plan

Made from Polydioxanone, PDO threads are a fantastic, versatile product that can be used to treat a number of areas and problems.

A Thread lift is a non surgical thread face and/or neck lift procedure that lifts and smooths the skin on the area in which we are treating. Using a fine thread to pull the skin tighter, whilst also stimulating the natural production of collagen, the Thread lift gives you a significantly younger, firmer appearance.

During the procedure, the threads, in this case we used 23G Cog threads, are inserted under the surface of the skin into the subdermis. These tiny threads anchor to the skin, keeping it in place as the threads are lifted, to create a smoother and tighter appearance. PDO threads also have an advantage over dermal filler as we do not add more volume leaving the client looking more natural.

We use a local anaesthetic so the treatment is very comfortable and takes around 20 minutes depending on how many areas are being treated.

Before & After

Results

Our client was completely over the moon with her results. Her body responded very well to the threads and the arch of the brow lifted perfectly. She will feel a little tender in the brow area for a few days, a little bruising and swelling is to be expected and her results should improve as those threads stimulate that extra collagen.

We will see this client back in a few weeks for a neck lift using this amazing technique again.
